We arrived in the US for a three-week visit on December 26---just in time for all the snow: almost every day during the entire two weeks we were in Boise, Idaho, we woke up to deeper and deeper drifts. Although we had a wonderful time catching up with family and friends, we didn't much enjoy catching their communicable diseases, so by the time our visit in Boise ended on January 10, we were glad to leave frostbitten Idaho for the milder weather of east Tennessee. Our Tennessee "family" greeted us warmly and treated us to a wonderful week. However, our little visit soon became business-like when we decided to purchase a home in our old neighborhood (more about this on the next page). All in all, we had a wonderful trip---so wonderful that it was worth the effort of dragging our children halfway around the world (let's just say that Edie detests airplanes).
