Luke is not one to lounge around the house every weekend. If he ever finds himself without plans for a Saturday, he's sure to plan a day trip somewhere. Consequently, we've visited many cities in our area of Japan and seen many interesting sights. Ben and Jen Forrey have accompanied us for most of our weekend adventures, including those pictured here: a day trip to a seaside town called Ise and a three-day weekend trip to beautiful Nagano prefecture, where we visited Matsumoto castle and went hiking in Kamikouchi. It is great to have friends to travel with! (It's not so bad to have a few extra hands to help out with the kids either! Ben and Jen like to tease that we only take them with us so we don't have to push the stroller ourselves!)

We also enjoyed a trip to Gero with Kent Huntley, a friend from Tennessee who came here on business. Gero is a quiet place famous for its natural hot springs and onsens (public baths). Here's a peek inside a traditional Japanese onsen (they're Tommy's favorite!).
