This year Sarah has learned what it is like to be a Japanese housewife (sort of) and at times it has been trying taking care of everything at home each day while Luke spends twelve or so hours at work. Taihen! Fortunately for her, newfound friend Jen Forrey has inspired her to get serious about running (something both Sarah and Jen enjoy), and her training has given her a great way to relieve stress. Both women are faithfully training for the Nagoya City Half-marathon on November 24.
Although Sarah has to do most of her running on her treadmill, weekend runs with Jen make all the effort worth it. These pictures are from a recent trip to Nagano prefecture---a beautiful area you all may remember as the site of the '98 winter Olympics---where Sarah and Jen enjoyed running on the Suwa Lake trail and in the mountains outside of Matsumoto. Suwa Lake is a runner's paradise: after a long run you can soak your feet in a natural hot spring and walk the foot massage course (if you're tough enough)!
