The problem with Kyoto is that there's just too much to see. Being the original capital of Japan for roughly a thousand years gives the region an immense amount of cultural sites. Temples and other sites dot the city and surrounding hillsides, giving the area an amazing feeling of history. As we visited the few sites we had time to see, it was fun to imagine that over a thousand years ago Japanese nobility were visiting these same places. Kyoto oozes culture. I mean, how many places in the world have gold plated villas? It was fun to be a part of it for a few days.
